The Wayside is a beautifully renovated hidden gem in an idyllic, secluded location in the Western Lake District, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overlooked by the magnificent Black Combe Fell, and beach access is just a short walk away.

With more than 3,100 kilometres of park to explore, you can walk, cycle and ride around. As well as enjoying your time on land, you can also get on the water of the lakes and coastline.

The fort itself is worth visiting, and also the views from there to south west over Eskdale Valley, and to north east over the mountain ranges including Scafell Pike are simply stunning!
